Trey Lance has second ankle surgery, expected back for 49ers OTAs

Quarterback Trey Lance underwent surgery to remove hardware inserted into his right ankle during the first surgery in September. The 49ers announced Saturday.

Lance has fully recovered from Friday’s procedure and is expected to return to organized team activity next offseason.

There’s a lot to speculate about the 49ers’ future at quarterback. It’s sure to be a hot topic this offseason, especially if Purdy continues to play well. But for now, the 49ers hope Lance has fully recovered and Purdy properly uses his versatile offensive weapon in his deep playoff runs.
