“I can’t do anything,” Judge told reporters after the boogie game. “I have to play better, that’s the bottom line. I didn’t get the job done tonight. Especially as the lead striker I have to get on base. I have to make something happen on the basepaths, and I didn’t. do that tonight .”

Expectations were high for Judge, who hit an AL-record 62 home runs. The hope was that he could also do it in the postseason and play a key role in the Yankees’ pursuit of the World Series title.

The team may have just been knocked out in general.

Guardian pitchers struckout Yankee batters a total of 15 batters. Cleveland starter Shane Bieber struckout seven in 5-2/3 innings to give up two runs on five hits in the win.

En route to a 2-2 tie in the extra innings, Jose Ramirez of the Guardians blooped at third base off pitcher Jameson Taillon, who fell between third baseman Josh Donaldson and outfielder Oswaldo Cabrera. Donaldson then fired it to second base. Ramirez rushed to reach third place. His single was counted as a double and an error.

Oscar Gonzalez then singled to place Ramirez, which turned out to be the go-ahead run. Josh Naylor then doubled to score Gonzalez and give Gonzalez a 4-2 lead.

In the bottom of the tenth, Donaldson was able to walk to reach base, but the Yankees were unable to score. Emmanuel Clase took the win after 2-1/3 innings of a shutout baseball.
