GREEN BAY — The Green Bay Packers placed 11 players on the club’s first injury report of the season. The list, released Wednesday, featured six full entrants and four restricted entrants. Starting receiver Allen Lazard is the only player who did not participate in the training.
Lazard worked in rehab for the third time in a row. Coach Matt LaFleur said on Wednesday that Lazard was “caught” in practice last week, but was hesitant to give other details. Lazard’s injury is listed as an ankle.
Lazard was the presumed top receiver this season, following the departure of Davante Adams. Even if he can’t practice leading up to the game, quarterback Aaron Rodgers isn’t worried.
“I don’t think he needs a lot of practice to be ready. So we’ll see how the week goes,” said Rodgers.

The Packers listed offensive linemen David Bakhtiari and Elgton Jenkins as limited participants. Both are recovering from knee injuries and ACL tears, but Jenkins also suffered a chest injury on the report. The duo were listed as starters on the Packers’ first depth map of the season, but LaFleur was vague about whether that meant they would play against the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday, or whether it just meant they would be starters if they could play. .
When asked if he knew who the starting five would be, LaFleur replied “maybe.”
“Our guys are experienced and, you know, we’re going to bet the best five and try to put them in the best position possible, whatever that may be, knowing we’re up against a really good defense line.”
Safety Darnell Savage (hamstring) and tight end Robert Tonyan (knee) were also both listed as restricted participants. Tonyan has not played since he tore his ACL in week 8 last season. Savage suffered a hamstring strain during Family Night in the first week of August.
On Wednesday, both were encouraged about their status, but will have to play the guard game for the rest of the week before they know if they can play on Sunday.
“I feel good,” Savage said. “Hamstrings are one of those things that you have to be very patient with. You have to be smart, you have to listen to your body. It’s something I don’t want to hang around all year. So I just have to be smart. Keep doing everything I can in terms of treatment and trust and just listen honestly to my body and then see where it goes.”
Tonyan said: “It feels good to go out and play with Aaron and still have that confidence there. I’m in a good place mentally and physically and keep making progress from there.”
The Packers will return to the practice field on Thursday.
