St. Louis Cardinals amazing Albert Pujols is not ready yet to add to his already incredible legacy.
A week after he became just the fourth player in baseball history to bat 700 home runs in a careerPujol hit home run No. 701 in front of his home crowd at Busch Stadium in St. Louis, Missouri.

Pujols’ 701st home run came in the bottom of the fourth on a 1-2 pitch by Pittsburgh Pirates Pitcher Johan Oveido in the last regular season home standings of Pujols’ career.
Pujols emerged from the Cardinals’ dugout for a curtain call and waved his hat off to the fans who have supported him for so many years.

“It’s pretty awesome to come back here because I knew it was going to be like this,” Pujols said, according to MLB.com. “It’s pretty good to be embraced by the fans in this way. This is what I’ve been given all year, but tonight was extra special after hitting the 700 mark.

While the next two games are the last two games of the regular season on home for the cardinalsSt. Louis will still have the chance to watch Pujols in the postseason.
The Cardinals have won first place in the NL Central.

“Hopefully my last game will be played” November in the World SeriesPujols said Friday. “So I’m not thinking about… [this final regular-season series] like that. Hopefully we have many more games.”

Cardinals-pitcher Jack Flaherty threw six innings with a quadruple to give up only one earned run in the 2-1 win.

“I only get into a groove the more often” [I] get out of there. We’re just going to keep doing pitches and it feels great,” said Flaherty.
The Cardinals have two games left at home with the Pirates before heading to Pittsburgh for the final three-game series of the regular season.
