Cowboys’ Micah Parsons tears block that led to Giants rookie injury: ‘I hate seeing that man’

Dallas Cowboys linebacker Micah Parsons called on the NFL to ban the low block that left New York Giants rookie Kayvon Thibodeaux with a sprained MCL.

Thibodeaux sustained the injury against the Cincinnati Bengals in a preseason game on Sunday night. He was hit low by tight end Thaddeus Moss as he rushed the passerby. Thibodeaux went down, but was back on the sidelines after checking out of the locker room. He didn’t play for the rest of the game.

“I don’t understand why clipping is still allowed in the NFL!! We’ve grown like goddamn men! Let’s hit the ball, bro! I hate to see that damn man!” Parsons tweeted Sunday night.

Giants coach Brian Daboll was asked about the block on Monday.

“Those are hard blocks – the blocks that come from over the line of scrimmage into the tackle box. You have to see it, and then you have to do a great job of trying to play with your hands. So, it’s a shame KT went under But that’s part of the game,” he said.

Thibodeaux was reportedly out for 3-4 weeks with the injury. Daboll wouldn’t put a timeline on his return.

“I’d say it’s really day to day,” he said. “I don’t predict when a player can come back or can’t come back. I know he will come in and be treated. We will look at it day by day, and when he is ready to go out, then that when we’ll put him there.”

Thibodeaux will miss some practice time and the last game of the preseason against the New York Jets.

“It’s valuable to be in training. You try to simulate it as best you can to get live reps, but as many reps as one of our guys can get – be it a rookie or a veteran – I think that’s them helps. helps every unit. KT has done everything we’ve asked him to do since he’s been here. He’s been a good teammate,” Daboll said.

“He has worked extremely hard. So of course you never want to miss out on time. He has the right attitude. The right approach. He will rehabilitate as hard as he can and be ready to go when he is ready.”

Thibodeaux was the number 5 of the Giants in April. In 10 games during his senior season with Oregon, he had a total of 49 tackles, including 12 for a loss and seven sacks. He was a consensus All-American in 2021 and the 2019 Pac-12 Defensive Freshman of the Year.
